The advice given by the person saying to get the value from the blue book is flawed. The actual value is established by researching local ads and listings for similar vehicles. You can list it for free on Craigslist and Kijiji . There are also low cost "classified ads" that can be done on ebay. Take several clear photos of the car to be used on the listings. Make sure you do not make any claim of condition you are unable to back up. If you say it is in "excellent condition" or has "no rust" and the buyer has a problem after the sale they can come back after you for misrepresenting it. The best thing to do is state facts like mileage and such but stipulate it sold as-is with no warranty or guarantee of condition or suitability. Make sure you make two copies of the bill of sale stating this as well. Regarding payment you can have them transfer the payment directly into your account. This way you don't end up with a bad check/money order or counterfeit bills.
